Humanity is a trait within us and to give something back to the community which has taught us so much is a noble act.
This action was shown by the late Joyce Heeraman who contributed half of her life savings to the Fiji Red Cross Society for providing their services to the people of Fiji.
The Fiji Public Trustee Corporation Limited today handed over a cheque of $35, 000 to the Fiji Red Cross Society which was the will of Heeraman.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Fiji Public Trustee Corporation Limited, Atonio Takala says that in April 2018 Heeraman sought the services of the Fiji Public Trustee to draft her final wishes in the form of a will to be able to provide charity after her death.
Joyce Danraijie Heeraman was originally from Trinidad obtained her Teacher Training Degree and taught in many primary and secondary schools.
She was also a lecturer in the Trinidad Government Teachers Training College before coming to Fiji in the 70’s.
She taught in many schools around the country for 14 years before joining the University of the South Pacific as a lecture under the School of Education.
Heeraman was laid to rest to rest on the 4th of June last year.
The Director General of the Fiji Red Cross Society, Filipe Nainoca says the society is grateful and it is not a everyday thing when someone decides to give their savings.
Both the organizations were touched by this kind gesture and paid tribute to the late Heeraman with a small prayer.
